Semi-Annual Progress Report
According to SC Home School Law, the parent/teacher is to maintain a
Semi-Annual Progress Report. These reports will contain information that
indicates the progress of your child in all subject areas.
What is a Semi-Annual Progress Report?
A Semi-Annual Progress report is used to determine the child's progress
during the 1st Semester and 2nd Semester of each
school year. This report will include the following:
-
The name and address of the home school.
-
The beginning date, ending date, and grading scale for the current
school year.
-
The student’s personal information which is to include gender, grade
level, birth date, and social security number.
-
The grading period will reflect the subjects, letter/number grades for
the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th
quarters, letter/number grades for the 1st and 2nd
semesters, and a final grade.
-
The attendance section will reflect the number of days by month for each
semester.
-
A teacher’s comment section is available for the parent/teacher to add
notes or explanations that will assist future reviews.
-
A separate page for the 1st Semester, and 2nd
Semester, has been provided as an additional administrative tool. These
tools will compare the student goals against their actual
accomplishments. A teacher’s comment section is available for the
parent/teacher to add notes or explanations that will assist future
reviews. These pages are optional.
A student’s semi-annual progress report provides information for the 1st
and 2nd semesters of each school year, where as a student’s
transcript is formatted for the 9th, 10th, 11th,
and 12th grades. The semi-annual progress report is required by
the state grades K through 12, where as the transcript is an
administrative tool used by high school students to gain access to
scholarships and to meet the admission process requirements for colleges,
universities, and tech schools.
Important
Note: In most
cases, when students return to the public or private schools setting, the
school will request a progress report for elementary and middle school
student’s, and a transcript for high school students.
A semi-annual progress report is available through the Member Center, as
well as in the printable section at the back of Home School Hand Book.
