PIE
was created out of the belief that education should be both affordable and
non-intrusive. The purpose of PIE is to provide a legal means to home school

reward members for recommending Palmetto Independent Educators as an

Through the referral program, a member may recommend as many as four
families each school year and receive a $10 reward for each family
that registers with PIE, which would be equivalent to the cost of a membership fee for the school year. The referral
program at the membership level is limited to four referrals a year,
each year.
Important Note: Late registration fee of
$10.00 applies
after August 30th for existing members.

Services:
The office of PIE works
diligently to meet member needs and expectations. The following services
are included with the enrollment fee.
-
Accountability:
As a service to members, letters of verification of current student
enrollment are provided upon request at no cost. Please allow 3-5 business
days for processing of requests for letters of verification.
Verification of enrollment under the PIE program is
available for various purposes, such as for applying for a student drivers
license, applying for scholarships, applying for college admissions,
returning to public school, and applying to the Military.
An overview of
our accountability program is provided.

Documentation: SC Code of Law, Section 59-65-47 is established for “Third
Option” accountability associations, home schools, and their requirements.
Parents or guardians maintaining a valid membership with a
“Third Option” accountability association, which has no fewer than fifty
members, may teach their children from the home school setting. Continuing
compliance with the academic standards and requirements of a “ Third Option”
accountability association exempts the home school from the requirements placed
upon the “First Option” (provided in section 59-65-40), or the “Second Option”
(provided in section 59-65-45)
The office of PIE recommends members maintain a copy of the
following documentation with their educational records.
An overview of
our documentation is provided.

the home school community better, the office of PIE provides several methods of
