Qualifying for SC ScholarshipsWe were asked to kindly pass the following message on to the home school community. [Home school families who have decided not to home school according to the SC Code of Law will not qualify for the following scholarship programs posted below.] It was also stated, [the diploma's of these graduating students may very well not be recognized by the State of South Carolina.] We received the above message during phone contact with the South Carolina Commission on Higher Education. It appears there have been several families failing to qualify for scholarships because they were not enrolled with one of the three options. PIE's assistance was called upon, however, we were unable to help rectify this situation. PIE has a strict policy against providing false documentation, jeopardizing the stability of our program, for those not willing to follow the law. To avoid possible truancy charges, the home school family should enroll in one of three options provided under SC Code of Law. PIE is a “Third Option” Association. As of JUNE 1996, it is now possible to home school your children through a private organization other than SCAIHS or your local school district. (section 59-65-47) Future Reference A letter verifying membership for families enrolled with Palmetto Independent Educators has been requested under the following conditions,
