Costs will vary depending on publisher, tools and materials to be used for each course, services, and how much the parent is willing to get involved. View further details.

  3. How long does it take to obtain curriculum?

This will depend on the time of your order, the location of the vendor, and shipping charges. Usually 1-2 weeks. There are many local resources available. A list of local resources has been provided.

  4. Does the office of PIE recommend a particular curriculum?

Some families choose to home school their children because they are dissatisfied with the instruction offered by their local public schools. Some parents want to use curriculum that provides instruction more in tune with their family values and philosophy. Other families choose home schooling so they can adapt the curriculum to match their child's interest and abilities.

There is much to be considered before handing out a recommendation for any particular curriculum. For instance; will the child/student have any choice as to which curriculum will be used? Will the parent/teacher use a traditional approach, or a non text-book approach? What about learning styles? Not only will our children have different learning styles, but as a parent/teacher we may teach according to our own learning styles.

For the family who just doesn't have the time to do extesive research, the office of PIE recommends you contact Bob Jones University Press located in Greenville South Carolina.

As a general rule, we suggest parents take the time to research their options. We also recommend the following curriculum guides written by Cathy Duffy. They are an excellent resource to have in the home school.
