COURSE DESCRIPTION

Course descriptions can be used to provide much more than just a basic description of the course in question. For example, the College Board uses Course Description Booklets to outline requirements place upon AP courses.

For home schoolers, a basic course description could be a copy of the contents page in the front of the book. Or, a copy of the syllabus provided by the curriculum provider. Copy the contents page, or request a syllabus, for each course and enter it into your records.

There may be times when the contents page and syllabus are not sufficient. Maybe a parent/teacher needs to create a course description for a course they designed. If quality is your concern, consider a well designed course description that places a connection between the content and the student’s goals. This would be much more impressive than a simple contents page.
